Sahakarmaharshi Bhausaheb Thorat (Dada) Sangamner is such a drought taluka. A large number of weedy workers were working in this taluk. Rural life was very harsh. Bringing the rural areas into the stream of development was a huge task. The pioneer of the agricultural revolution. Bhausaheb Thorat took the inspiration of co-operative movement from Annasaheb Shinde, sculptor and former Chief Minister of Maharashtra Yashwantrao Chavan, former Chief Minister Vasantdada Patil.
After realizing that Sangamner taluka cannot be developed without co-operatives, Bhausaheb Thorat took the village activists of Sangamner taluka along with him and established cooperatives. Various executive societies, milk societies, water distribution societies and credit societies were set up. A sugar factory, milk union was set up at Barad Malrana of Ghulewadi at Sangamner.
